We had a good meeting last month. Dave Walker showed us their video
showing how the people of Salem, including many of the members of the
Salem Carving Club, created Salem's Riverfront Carousel. It was a very
interesting story and quite remarkable how everything fell into place for
them. They started from nothing and ended with over 40 finished, and I
might add beautiful, carousel horses along with the building for them and
a new park for everyone to enjoy. It would be a very interesting to go
see. We would like to thank Dave for coming down and sharing this with us.
Next month we are going to have I Wayan Kantor come and demonstrate his
carving techniques. He was at our meeting last month and brought several
of his unique carvings to show us. He is from Bali and uses Balinese and
our type of carving tools to create these interesting pieces. I'm sure you
will enjoy the new and different style he presents.
